Costa Rica Ready for Sudamérica 4 Naciones B

Costa Rica is ready for the Sudamérica 4 Naciones B. From Sunday September 30 to Saturday October 06 the Sudamericano 4 Naciones will take place in Guatemala City. Scheduled to compete are Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru, and Venezuela.

Yet the competition may not involve Venezuela. Despite Venezuela having been the first to confirm their roster the South American country may not be able to play. Just days out from the start of the Sudamérica 4 Naciones B Venezuela’s players were denied visas to enter Guatemala.

Costa Rica’s opening fixture is scheduled to be against Venezuela on Sunday. Should this not be resolved in time then the tournament would be reduced to a Tri-Nations competition with Costa Rica facing Peru on Wednesday and Guatemala next Saturday.

For Los Ticos tire Sudamérica 4 Naciones B marks a return to the second tier of South American competition. In 2009 Costa Rica played host to the South American B Championship. Involved were Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, and Venezuela.

The following year Costa Rica faced the same countries in Medellín, Colombia. Then in 2011 Costa Rica competed in Lima, Peru for the final time in the former competition.

On Sunday September 29 Costa Rica rejoins the ‘B’ level. Both Costa Rica and Guatemala won promotion from the 2017 South American ‘C’ Championship.
