Rugby Championship – Australia vs South Africa Match Highlights

Round three of the Rugby Championship saw Australia vs South Africa in the second match. The teams did not put on a classic with an error-ridden fixture ultimately going the way of the home side. The 23-18 win saw South Africa held scoreless in the second half.

In winning the Wallabies got their first competition points of this year’s Rugby Championship. South Africa picked up a losing bonus point to now have 6 points, two more than both Argentina and Australia. New Zealand are well in front on 15 points.

Attempting to catch New Zealand will be on the minds of all three of the chasers though, realistically, the battle is to finish in second position. Australia’s win today ended a losing streak involving losses against Ireland, and New Zealand (2).

In seven days time the Wallabies will host Argentina on the Gold Coast. South Africa will face New Zealand in Wellington. South Africa’s loss in Brisbane today is the second consecutive defeat for the Springboks. They were beaten by Argentina in Mendoza in round two.

Australia had an attendance today of 27,849. The venue seats 52,500. They will be playing against Argentina at the Cbus Super Stadium next Saturday. It has a seating capacity of 27,400.
