Americas Rankings – September 02 2018

The Americas Rankings have been updated following the completion of the Americas Rugby Challenge. The Four Nations tournament was won by Colombia who have gained ground as a result. The Americas Rankings – September 02 2018 see Colombia and Mexico rising and Paraguay and Guyana falling.

Colombia vs Paraguay saw Los Tucanes going into the match with a ranking of 49.00 points. Paraguay did so on 50.44. Colombia’s 44-29 victory not only sees a gain for Los Tucanes but sees them claiming maximum points as it was by a margin of 15 or more points. As such Colombia move up to 50.27 points while Paraguay fall to 49.17 points. They trade positions with Colombia at an all-time high of 7th.

In the final match of the Americas Rugby Challenge Mexico defeated Guyana 48-36. The 12 point victory, factoring in the neutral venue sees Mexico rising from 44.06 points to a new ranking of 45.13. This corresponds to a climb in the rankings above Guyana as the Green Machine fall from 44.75 points to 43.68.

International competition continues on Saturday with the resumption of the Rugby Championship. Los Pumas will play their toughest match of the year, facing New Zealand away in Nelson.

Costa Rica continues to be ranked on 32.16 points. This is the case despite the country having gained World Rugby membership in November 2017. Upon gaining World Rugby membership unions enter the World Rankings and do so with a 30.00 ranking.
