Pools and Formats Confirmed for RAN Sevens in Barbados

Rugby Americas North has confirmed the pools and formats for this year’s RAN Sevens in Barbados. Taking place on September 22-23 , 15 countries will be involved in the competition which doubles as qualification for the 2019 Pan American Games.

Those involved are to be targeting not only the Pan American Games but also the biggest of them all, the 2020 Olympic Games. The 2019 RAN Sevens is to function as North America’s regional qualifier with seeding based on 2018 results.

The format for the competition is to be pool play for both Men’s and Women’s competitors. This includes 14 Men’s teams and 10 Women’s.

The Men’s teams have been seeded into four pools. The top two from each men’s pool will go through to an eight team knockout with the remaining six entering a tournament with two pools of three.
