Mexico has named their men’s and women’s teams for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games taking place in Baranquilla, Colombia. The Rugby Sevens event will be held over the next two days, beginning Wednesday August 1st.
Las Serpientes won silver in the men’s competition during the 2014 Games in Veracruz. Only three players return from that selection – Luis Arredondo, Alejandro Chávez, and Gonzalo Pons. This year’s team will be captained by Erik Castillo and coached by former Mexico international Simon Pierre.

The women took Bronze in Veracruz and also feature just three returnees – Maria Fernanda Carillo, Michelle Farah, and captain Daniela Rosales. They are coached by former Canada Sevens representative Robin MacDowell. Las Serpientes finished in 16th spot at the Rugby World Cup Sevens.
