International competition took on a fresh shape on Saturday with the opening day of the Summer Rugby Cup. Played in Tbilisi, Georgia there were two matches with the Americas accounting for 50% of the competing teams.
A first-ever fixture saw Brazil facing Racing 92. The South American country vs French Top 14 club fixture was a developing country facing a full professional outfit who used the match to experiment a number of fringe players.
Racing 92 won 45-7, a scoreline which did not raise any surprises. Yet, despite being outmatched Brazil did score an impressive try. Going over was winger Lucas Tranquez who burst through a gap and showed good pace to touch down.
In the second half Argentine winger Juan Imhoff got his name on the scoresheet. Providing a support line, Imhoff went over untouched for the Parisians.
