Chile make Bowl Final, Uruguay fall to Hong Kong

Chile will play in the Bowl Final at the Rugby World Cup Sevens after defeating Uganda on Day Three in San Francisco. Uruguay were overwhelmed by Hong Kong, while Jamaica were given a sound beating by Papua New Guinea

Los Cóndores led 15-5 at the break thanks to tries from Rodrigo Fernández, Marcelo Torrealba, and Benjamín de Vidts. A fourth try from captain Felipe Brangier sealed the deal but a late try from Philip Wokorach, his second for Uganda, meant that Chile had to hold their line to earn the win.

Uruguay had little for Hong Kong in the second Bowl Semi Final. Gastón Mieres managed to score at the end of the first half but that would be all they could manage. The size and strength of the Hong Kong runners was too much for Los Teros to handle.

In earlier action Jamaica came up well short against Papua New Guinea, conceding eight tries will scoring only one of their own. Nyle Beckett was the man to break the zero but the Crocs will now contest the bottom spots of the table against Zimbabwe.

Hong Kong will be Chile’s opponent in the Bowl Final that begins at 2:30pm local time, 5:30pm Santiago time. Uruguay will play against Uganda with a 19th place finish on the line.
