Daniela Rosales and Mexico are ready for the 2018 RWC 7’s. Rosales has been chosen by Head Coach Robin MacDowell to captain Mexico at the upcoming World Rugby Sevens competition in San Francisco.
To prepare for the 2018 RWC 7’s Mexico’s places spent most of the first three months of the year together in a training camp in Mexico City. Preparation continued in Canada where Mexico’s players were afforded the opportunity of training in quality facilities.
The players are preparing not only for the 2018 RWC 7’s but also for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Barranquilla, Colombia. The CAC will take place just a week following competition in San Francisco.
Daniela Rosales has been involved for Mexico for over nine years. Her leadership and inspiration saw MacDowell naming her as the woman to lead Mexico at the RWC 7’s.
back in the mix for Mexico is Karina Landeros. Having overcome injury, Landeros is a player to watch out for. The roster also contains youth. Included are 18-year-old Zoe Tuyu, 19-year-old Adriana Mendoza, and 20-year-old Margely Duarte.
Mexico have the task of facing powerhouses New Zealand in their opening match. The fixture is a Round-of-16 match with the winner advancing to the Quarter Finals and the loser being eliminated. Such is the format for the 2018 RWC 7’s that all matches are straight knock-outs.
