Final Women’s Squads for Paris 7s

The final stop on the 2017-18 HSBC Women’s Sevens Series kicks off in Paris on Friday morning. A dozen teams will be vying to lift the Cup though only a a couple are still in contention for the overall Series title. For all this also represents the last major outing before the Rugby World Cup Sevens event in San Francisco next month.

Australia are currently in top spot and look set to dethrone defending Series champions New Zealand unless the latter can overcome a four-point gap in Paris. Third-place France are secure in their spot as they trail New Zealand by 16 points and are 10 ahead of fourth-place Canada.

The two North American teams are deadlocked on 44 points apiece so it’s winner-take-all for a top-four finish. Canada have sent a strong team led by captain and talisman Ghislaine Landry with top Series names like Britt Benn, Bianca Farella, and rising star Charity Williams among the group.

Nicole Heavirland leads the Eagles squad that also looks formidable. Dual-international stars Alev Kelter, Naya Tapper, and Kristen Thomas are among the group while there is one debut. 21-year-old Scion Academy product Ilona Maher is named in the absence of Sarah Buonopane and Kate Zackary.
