Day two of the 2018 Juegos Suramericanos saw the medals picture taking shape. With one day left to play the competition in Bolivia is proving to be one with many results not going according to historical rankings.

In the Men’s division the day concluded with a thrilling 12-12 draw between Argentina and Chile. This was a massive moral victory for Los Cóndores 7’s. Earlier in the day the Chileans romped past Uruguay, winning 35-7.
Uruguay’s remaining day two fixture was a 55-0 win over hosts Bolivia. The Bolivians also fell to a heavy defeat against Paraguay though they were extremely pleased to score a try against their southeastern neighbors.
Paraguay’s other fixture saw Os Tupis winning 31-7. Against Colombia, however, Brazil was pushed to the limit in a 19-17 match.
Argentina’s 28-7 defeat of Colombia and their draw with Chile means Los Pumas 7’s head into the final day as the team favored to win Gold.
In the Women’s section Argentina also had a strong opening match. A 53-0 win over Bolivia would be followed by a 20-0 win over Peru later in the day.
Paraguay and Colombia competed to a 19-19 draw while the remainder of the Women’s fixtures saw one side comfortably defeating the other. Brazil enjoyed 47-0 and 43-0 wins over Uruguay and Peru to underline themselves as favorites for Gold.
With Argentina now expected to finish second the Battle for Bronze remains interesting. Colombia’s 47-5 victory over Bolivia and Paraguay’s 29-7 win over Uruguay were notable on Day Two.
