Fiorino confirmed as Canada Women’s head coach

Sandro Fiorino can now remove the ‘interim’ from his coaching title. The Toronto native has been confirmed as the permanent successor to François Ratier as Head Coach of Canada’s Senior Women’s program. Fiorino will also continue as Head Coach of the National Sevens Academy program in Toronto.

His promotion does not come as a surprise. Fiorino has been part of the women’s high performance program since 2011 when he became an assistant for the Women’s Sevens team under John Tait, a role that took him to the Olympic Games in 2016. He was also Head Coach of a successful Women’s u20 program that won Nations Cup titles in 2013 and 2014.

Fiorino lead the Senior Women on their European tour in November of last year and his ‘promotion’ had been largely expected. A unique approach to his staff will see a number of assistants and age-grade coaches integrated to aid in identification and regional development.
