Turks & Caicos Outperform British Virgin Islands

The Turks & Caicos Islands outperformed the British Virgin Islands today, winning 63-12. The test match was a friendly and therefore not a part of the 2018 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Championship.

The home crowd at Meridian field were treated to some free-flowing rugby with the Flamingoes utilizing their speedy backs impressively. Alex Williams was a stand out for the Turks & Caicos Islands, resembling the speed and foot work of France’s Teddy Thomas.

Today’s fixture was the first of 2018 for both countries. For the British Virgin Islands it was the first international since the Americas Rankings began. As such the British Virgin Islands are to have their ranking altered for the first time.

The Americas Rankings will be updated on Sunday. Additional test matches this weekend will also factor into the updated rankings. These include Guadeloupe vs CuraçaoParaguay vs Colombia and Barbados vs Jamaica.

Neither the Turks & Caicos Islands and the British Virgin Islands are a part of the 2018 RAN Championship. This year’s edition is a tournament divided into three tiers. For 2019 both unions may well join the RAN Trophy. The 2018 Ran Trophy involves Curaçao, the Dominican Republic and Guadeloupe.
