Allen ruled out of World Cup

Hat-trick hero Cory Allen will take no further part in the World Cup. The news will come as yet another hammer blow to Wales, already short of Jonathan Davies in the midfield and trio Rhys Webb, Leigh Halfpenny, and Eli Walker ruled out before the tournament. Allen tore a hamstring in his man-of-the-match performance against Uruguay on Sunday and is expected to be on the sidelines for several weeks.

Warren Gatland has called up 20 year old Tyler Morgan, who was part of the World Cup preparations and made his test debut against Ireland in August. The Dragons centre was signed to a dual-contract with the Welsh union in December and was seen by some as a surprise omission from the original 31-man squad.

Wales will be hoping their other injury worries pull through, though there are some anxious days ahead as props Paul James and Samson Lee are nursing newly suffered calf injuries, and Aaron Jarvis dealing with damaged ribs. Fullback Liam Williams only just returned from a serious foot injury to suffer a deep bruise on the thigh against Uruguay.
