Final Rosters set for Langford Sevens

All 12 teams competing at the Langford Sevens on Canada’s West Coast this weekend have confirmed their rosters. It’s the penultimate round of the 2017-18 HSBC Sevens Series leaving precious little time for teams to make up ground in the standings.

Canada faltered to their worst-ever finish in Kitakyushu. They will be without key player Britt Benn at their home tournament but welcome back captain Ghislaine Landry and strike runner Charity Williams, and hand a debut to forward Pam Buisa. Their poor ranking in Japan sees them in a tough Pool C with series leaders Australia, Spain, and Ireland all present.

The USA have had a late withdrawal as Kristen Thomas was forced out but still feature an experienced side with plenty of pace and power. Nicole Heavirland leads the charge with a strong supporting cast of Naya Tapper and Alev Kelter. They have been drawn in Pool B with France, Russia, and Japan.

Brazil are also involved as an invitational side. Raquel Kochhann will captain a very young team with four players making their first series appearance – Eshyllen Coimbra, Rafaella Zanellato, Júlia Rodrigues, and Isadora Lopes. The Yaras will be in Pool A with New Zealand, Fiji, and England.

The two-day tournament begins on Saturday at 10:30am local time, 1:30pm Eastern. Canadian fans can watch live on the CBC Sports Website. Those in the USA can watch on The Rugby Channel. World Rugby will provide a live stream to international viewers.
