Challenge Cup Semi Finals – Preview

It is Semi Finals weekend in Europe. Competing for the two continental titles are to be clubs from the English Premiership, French Top 14 and the Pro 14 Championship. The Challenge Cup Semi Finals see matches taking place in England and Wales. The Americas is to be represented.

In the first Semi Final Gloucester had home advantage against the Newcastle Falcons on Friday. The all-English fixture is to involve Argentine and Canadian test players. Mariano Galarza starts in the second-row for the home side while Evan Olmstead is to play flanker for the Falcons. Also featuring for Newcastle will be Santiago Socino as the team’s replacement hooker.

In Wales the Cardiff Blues are to have a home Semi Final against Pau. The Welsh region have left captain Americas, Blaine Scully out of their line-up for the match. Starting for Pau at no 8 will be former English international Steffon Armitage. He is from Trinidad & Tobago. On the bench will be Ignacio Calles, a former Argentina u20’s front-rower.
