Argentina To Face England, Italy and Scotland in U20 Championship

Argentina is to face England, Italy and Scotland in the 2018 World Rugby U20 Championship. The year’s edition of the Junior World Cup will be played in France from May 30 to June 17. The 2019 tournament will take place in Argentina.

France’s south-west will stage this year’s event. The selected venues are the Stade Aimé Giral (Perpignan), Stade de la Méditerranée (Béziers) and the Stade d’Honneur du Parc des Sports et de l’Amitié (Narbonne).

Narbonne and Perpignan are to host the tournament Semi Finals and ranking play-off matches. The final will take place in Béziers.

All venues are used for the Pro D2 but currently do not have use in the Top 14. They are not going to host matches for RWC 2023 and nor did they for RWC 2007.

The 2018 U20 Championship will have twelve competing teams. They are to be spread over three pools. Firstly Pool A consists of Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Wales. Secondly Pool B has Argentina, England, Italy and Scotland. Lastly Pool C has France, Georgia, Ireland and South Africa.

The 2018 tournament marks the completion of a decade of the U20 Championship. The inaugural event was played in Wales in 2008. A number of RWC 2015 Pumas were involved in the 2008 U20 Championship. They include Juan Figallo, Martín Landajo, Nicolás Sánchez, Juan Pablo Socino, and Joaquín Tuculet.
