After a week off it’s back to the grindstone for players in the French Pro D2. This season has flown by and we’re now just a couple weeks out from being two-thirds of the way. Nearly every team has rotated their squad by necessity but soon those chasing promotion or looking to escape relegation will start to play their top men on the regular.
There was no Thursday evening game this week, with seven games tabbed for Friday evening and one for Sunday. Starting things off is a mid-table battle between Soyaux Angouleme and Vannes, two teams in just their second season of fully professional rugby. A pair of Argentines line up for the SA XV in winger Lucas Martín Caneda and reserve prop Joël Sclavi.
In fact it’s only South Americans who feature this week. Horacio San Martín starts in the midfield for Nevers against Aurillac, and a pair of his countrymen are in the Stade Montois front row. Carlos Muzzio is at loosehead and Jerónimo Negrotto at tighthead for the match in Narbonne.
Uruguay’s Felipe Berchesi gets a run-out for Dax with Martín Chiappesoni covering the back row from the bench. They’ll face Bayonne, who have Chilean lock Pablo Huete lining up behind Juan Pablo Orlandi. At fullback it’s the familiar face of Martín Bustos Moyano.
Montauban welcomes Colomiers on Sunday. Teams are yet to be named but Agustín Costa Repetto and Sebastián Poet are certain to be found in the match day squad for the visitors.
