Matt Jensen signs for Utah Warriors

The Utah Warriors have confirmed the signing of US Eagles lock Matt Jensen for the 2018 Major League Rugby season. Standing 2.03m (6’8″) tall, the 25-year-old is an imposing figure both in the set piece and the loose. He could form an all-Eagles second row with John Cullen, confirmed earlier in the week.

Jensen made his senior test debut during the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship, earning his first start against Chile. After impressing with his mobility he was selected as a reserve for three matches in the June international window including the first World Cup qualifier against Canada. He was also part of the Americas Pacific Challenge squad in October.

Like Cullen, Jensen was expected to join the Warriors having played his recent rugby with BYU. He bolsters a muscular forward pack that features a pair of Tongans signed recently, front row Lote Tu’ipulotu and loose forward Saia Uhila. Former West Texas A&M football lineman Alex Tucci has also been signed.
