Uncapped trio called up to Eagles squad

The US Eagles have called up three uncapped players for their European tour of Germany and Georgia. Joining the senior side for the first time are Huluholo Mo’ungaloa, Psalm Wooching, and Mose Fuala’au. Veteran winger Tim Maupin has also joined the group in Germany.

Injury has ruled out Eric Fry and David Tameilau from contention in the November tests while Hanco Germishuys and Josh Whippy have had to withdraw for personal reasons. Samu Manoa will miss the Germany test but will join the squad in time to face Georgia.

Life West prop Mo’ungaloa is comfortable on either side of the scrum and will jump straight into the match day 23 against Germany as loosehead cover. The 27-year-old made his international debut for the USA Select XV during the Americas Pacific Challenge held in Montevideo last month.

Wooching’s remarkable rise continues, earning selection to the Eagles after impressing with the Select XV in Uruguay. He had only just announced his decision to forego a professional football career earlier this year in order to pursue international rugby honors. The 23-year-old has largely been used as an outside back with the Seattle Saracens but recently converted to the flank.

Fuala’au, 21, is another Life West product who is now in his third season in the Clermont Auvergne academy program. An outside center who can also play wing, he has been a regular starter for the Espoirs but opted out of Junior All-American honors, preferring to concentrate on his club career. This will be his first convocation with a senior USA representative side.
