Los Teros Head Coach Pablo Lemoine has made two changes to the starting lineup for Satuday’s away test against Japan in Tokyo. The match will be played at 6am Uruguayan time and is the final fixture before Lemoine announces his squad for the World Cup.
Coming in at hooker is Carlos Arboleya who replaces Nicolás Klappenbach. The front-rower suffered a first half injury in Fukuoka and tests have confirmed that he is to require a four week recovery.
The second change to the team is in the back line where Leandro Leivas is to be given a start ahead of the try scoring Jerónimo Etcheverry on the wing.
The Uruguayan team training on Thursday focused on the individual needs of the players in adition to tweaking aspects of both the attack and defense. It was followed by a free afternoon in which Los Teros visited the sites of Tokyo.
Ireland’s George Clancy is to referee the match. He is to be involved in the Rugby World Cup and was involved in the final minutes of the test match in Fukuoka after France’s Jerome Garces suffered a muscular injury.
This Saturday’s match will take place at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo with kick-off to be at 6am Uruguayan time. The first match between the sides saw the Asian Champions winning 30-8.
The match is to be televised live by ESPN3 in Uruguay. The Japanese Rugby Union has informed that there is to be no live stream for the fixture.
Following the second test match the Uruguayan Coaching Staff will confirm the 31-man squad for the Rugby World Cup on Sunday, August 30. Los Teros will then travel to Spain to play a friendly match against a Basque XV in Getco on September 06. from there the team wll travel to Wales on September 13 to prepare for the World Cup with the opening match for Los Teros being on September 20 against the sub-hosts.
