Week 10 of the Pro D2 is underway. The second division of French professional rugby sees eight league matches played between Thursday and Sunday. Included are a host of Americas players.
The round opened on Thursday with Grenoble at home to Biarritz. Involved was Leandro Mario Assi. The Argentine prop was a replacement for the Gonzalo Quesada coached side.
Action continues today (Friday) with six matches. All are evening kick-offs. On the Mediterranean coast Béziers host a derby against Narbonne. Argentine hooker Santiago Iglesias Valdez starts for the home side.
In Basque country Bayonne welcome Charante, doing so with Pablo Huete. The Chilean starts in the Bayonne second-row. Playing for the opposition will be an Argentine prop. Joel Sclavi continues to receive game time following his move from the Pau academy.
Uruguay’s inform Felipe Berchesi will also play today. He starts at fly half for Dax who have home advantage against Aurillac. Also involved will be Argentina’s Martín Chiappesoni as a replacement flanker.
The surprise package of the season, Nevers host Carcassonne. Involved from the bench for Nevers will be former Pumas center Horacio San Martín.
In Paris Massy take-on Vannes. Eagles prop Eric Fry starts at Loose Head for the visitors. It is another great opportunity for Fry to prepare for the November Internationals. He is potentially going to be starting against both Germany and Georgia next month.
Today’s remaining fixture is a south-western French classic. Colomiers are at home to Montauban in what is a fierce rivalry. The home side have named former Pumas Sebastián Poet at fly half and Agustín Costa Repetto at hooker.
The final fixture of week 10 will be a Sunday match. Perpignan are to face fellow former Top 14 side Mont de Marsan. Line-ups for the match will be named on Saturday.
