Americas Rankings – October 8 2017

The Americas Rankings have been updated following the completion of international competition this weekend. The October 8 2017 rankings see changes for Argentina, Barbados, Colombia and Peru.

Argentina’s Rugby Championship campaign was poor. Los Pumas lost every single match, gaining no competition points and conceding 17 points or more in every match. As a result of losing in Mendoza on Saturday Argentina fall from 77.83 to 76.93 points. It is notably lower than Fiji’s 9th placed world ranking of 79.48.

Rankings points were not up for grabs in Montevideo. Canada, Uruguay and the USA all played on Saturday in the Americas Pacific Challenge. With the team’s all being official ‘A’ sides no rankings points were on the line. Had they been capped then Uruguay would have gained tremendously from beating Tonga.

Points were on the line in Lima. Peru’s home defeat against Colombia sees a slight fall for Los Tumis and a gain for Los Tucanes. Peru fall from 36.82 to 36.54 points. In doing so they drop below Barbados in the Americas Rankings.

The result sees Colombia improving from 47.97 points to now have 48.25. It does not see an overall change in the Americas Rankings but does see Colombia closing in on Paraguay who retain 7th position. In the World Rankings Colombia move both Morocco and Kazakhstan.

The Americas Rankings will be updated again next Sunday. Rankings points will be on the line in Peru’s home match against Venezuela.
