Jaguares To Open 2018 Campaign Against Stormers

Los Jaguares are to open their 2018 campaign against the Stormers. The Argentine franchise will kick-off their third year of Super Rugby on February 17 in Cape Town.

The 2018 Super Rugby competition sees changes from 2016 and 2017. A reduction has occurred from 18 to 15 teams. This has seen the Cheetahs and Southern Kings joining the Pro 14 Championship while the Australian Rugby Union has made the Western Force defunct.

The changes see a new structure, a reduction from for to three conferences. With it Los Jaguares are to play 16 matches, 8 being within the African conference (home and away) and four each against New Zealand and Australian conference sides.

All franchises will have two bye weekends during the regular season. The Los play-off’s will see the top 8 teams qualifying and are to climate with the Super Rugby Final on Saturday August 04 2018.

In addition to opening on tire road against the Stormers, Los Jaguares will play their round two match in South Africa. In the second week of the competition the Argentine side will face the 2016 and 2017 runners-up, the Lions on Saturday August 24 in Johannesburg.

Los Jaguares’ first home match will be on March 03. The Argentine side will face the Hurricanes, another side to impress in the 2017 competition. The fixture will be the first of four consecutive home games from rounds 3-6. The Waratahs, Reds and Lions will each play in Buenos Aires in the weekends following the Hurricanes’ appearance.

In week 7 Los Jaguares will have a bye. It is to be followed by a home match on Saturday April 07 against the Crusaders. The Argentine side will then play four games in Oceania from week 9 to 12. The matches will be away against the Rebels, Brumbies, Blues and Chiefs.

Los Jaguares are to have a bye following the four-match tour. It it to be followed by two home matches on May 19 and 25. The Bulls and Sharks are to be the visitors, playing at the Estadio Vélez Sarsfield.

Super Rugby will pause for the 2018 June Internationals. Los Jaguares will change their jerseys for the Pumas colors before returning to the orange and black on Saturday June 30. It is to be Los Jaguares’ final home match of the year and will be against the Stormers.

The regular season will conclude with a two-match tour of South Africa. Los Jaguares are to play away against the Bulls and Sharks on July 07 and 14. Los Jaguares will not face Japanese side, the Sunwolves in the 2018 regular season.
