Heavy Americas influence in Falcons ‘A’ team

Newcastle Falcons have named four Americas players in the side for their Aviva ‘A’ League season opener against Wasps on Monday evening. The newly revamped ‘A’ League sees all 12 Premiership sides as well as Championship favorites Bristol entering reserve grade teams which feature a mixture of up-and-coming talent as well as first team players short of game time or returning from injury.

New signing Jake Ilnicki will get his first action in a Falcons shirt just a few days after arriving in Newcastle and he will join Argentine hooker Santiago Socino in the front row. Behind will be a familiar face in Canada lock Evan Olmstead, while his US Eagles counterpart Nick Civetta is among the reserves.

Other notables in the Falcons team include England 7s flyer Cameron Cowell, Scotland age-grade lock Glen Young, and former Yorkshire Carnegie captain Ryan Burrows. Meanwhile Wasps have included England Saxons fullback Rob Miller and former national u20 midfielder Guy Armitage – younger brother of Trinidadian-born trio Bevon, Delon, and Steffon.

The match kicks off at 7:30pm local time at Broadstreet RFC.
