The annual 2017 RAN Superweek started last Saturday. The opening match was in the Men’s u19’s. The USA South produced an impressive performance in defeating Jamaica 47-0. In game two Bermuda’s youth gave Gareth Nokes and the entire Bermuda rugby commuity plenty to celebrate. Bermuda overcame the Cayman Islands 15-10.

On Sunday Trinidad & Tobago opened their account in style. Their dominant 47–0 win over the Turks & Caicos Islands underlined the difference in the youth systems between the two nations. Mexico faced the USA South B next and recorded a hard-fought 17-15 victory.

The competition took a break on Monday before returning on Tuesday. The USA South A overpowered Bermuda in the first of two Tuesday matches. The 54-0 scoreline would be the biggest of the Superweek. Jamaica then added to the Cayman Islands’ suffering by running out 20-3 winners.

On Wednesday a critical match took place – Trinidad & Tobago vs Mexico. Las Serpientes would come out on top in a thriller, winning 23-19. It was followed by the USA South B recovering from the loss against Mexico to defeat the Turks & Caicos Islands 44-7.

On Thursday it was time for the Women’s 10’s to enter Superweek.  The USA South women joined the men in playing excellent rugby. First up, they recorded two wins in the opening day, defeating Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica by identical scorelines of 17-7.

Also taking to the field was Mexico. The Women completed a 14-7 victory over Jamaica in game one but fell 20-7 against Trinidad & Tobago in game two.
