Former Puma Martín Bustos Moyano has extended his contract with Bayonne. His new deal sees him under contract with the club until 2019. The 31-year-old Córdoba fullback has been at Bayonne since 2013.
Bayonne were relegated from the Top 14 this past season. This saw the club returning to the Pro d2. For both Bayonne and Bustos Moyano it means a second stint in France’s second division in recent years.
The club won promotion to the Top 14 in June 2016 but was unable to avoid relegation. Bustos Moyano was the hero in that year’s Pro d2 final. He scored all 21 points for Bayonne as the defeated Aurillac to return to France’s elite.
Bustos Moyano is one of four South Americans currently contracted to Bayonne. Fellow former Puma, Juan Pablo Orlandi signed for the club for the upcoming season. Chilean forwards Pablo Huete and Ramón Ayarza also play for Bayonne.
The 2017-2018 Pro d2 season begins in late August. Bayonne and Grenoble are the two sides relegated from last season’s Top 14. Massy and Nevers are the new sides up from the Fédérale 1.
