Canadian-eligible prop Les Leulua’ili’i-Makin has signed a deal to stay with the Brumbies in Canberra for at least two more seasons. The 25-year-old tighthead is now in his third season at GIO Stadium, earning a contract after representing Australia at the Junior World Championship in 2012. He has since become a regular on match day, acting as primary backup to Wallabies tighthead Allan Ala’alatoa this season.
Leulua’ili’i-Makin was born in Canberra to a Canadian father and Samoan mother. Having not represented Australia at senior level he remains eligible for both Canada and Samoa though strict Australian Super Rugby contract limitations on foreign-eligible players make it unlikely he will opt to pursue international rugby with either before the 2019 World Cup.
