Canadians dominate Langford Dream Team

Four Canadians have been selected to the official HSBC Dream Team for the Langford 7s. While they came up short in the Cup Final, Canada was the dominant side on the first day of the competition and thrashed England in the Quarter Final before ousting the Olympic champions Australia in the Semi.

Leading the way is captain and leading points scorer Ghislaine Landry, who again showed her class in attack but also stood out in defense with a game-saving tackle against Australia earning Canada a spot in the Cup Final. Hard-hitting midfielder Britt Benn gets the nod as well as Bianca Farella, who has made a successful transition from winger to forward using her physical strength to bust through tackles and halt opposition. Speedy winger Charity Williams is rewarded after being used as an impact sub to great effect.

Rounding out the side are two players from the Cup-winning New Zealand side, all-action forward Ruby Tui and the tournament’s top try scorer Michaela Blyde. Veteran Australia captain Sharni Williams makes the grade and completes the forward selection.
