Recruitment continues ahead of the inaugural season of Major League Rugby. The Houston Strikers have unveiled the signing of former Ulster prop Adam Macklin. He becomes the fifth player signing of the new team ahead of 2018, preceded by Matt Trouville, Sam Windsor, Charlie Hewitt, and Jake Turnbull.
Arriving from Ireland, the 27-year-old tighthead specialist has been playing for Belfast Harlequins for the past two seasons. After a promising start to his professional career that included selection to the Ireland side for the 2009 World Junior Championships, injuries severely slowed his progress and bringing his six year stay at Ulster to a close in 2014. He had a brief stint with Rotherham Titans but the injury bug struck again and limited him to only two appearances for the Greene King IPA Championship club.
Macklin now looks to re-boot his career in Houston as part of a new team in a new competition set to begin in spring of 2018. Nine teams have thus far been confirmed including currently active sides Austin Huns, Glendale Raptors, and Seattle Saracens.
