Chile to Play RWC Qualifiers at La Pintana

Chile is to play Rugby World Cup qualifiers at La Pintana. An arrangement made between Chile Rugby and the La Pintana City Hall will see the Estadio Municipal playing host to Chile’s upcoming matches against Brazil and Paraguay.

The games are to be two of Chile’s three Rugby World Cup qualifiers. The remaining match will be away to Uruguay. The three fixtures will be played over consecutive weekends.

The Estadio Municipal de La Pintana has a 6,000 seating capacity. It is home to Deportes Pintana, a second division soccer side in Chile. It is also used for home matches by Trapiales Rugby Club and the playing surface is regarded as being among the best in the country.

It is to be the fourth time in which Los Cóndores have played at the venue. The first fixture was against Argentine province Salta in the Torneo Argentino de Asociaciones in 2012. In 2016 it hosted Chile’s Americas Rugby Championship match against Canada. Also in 2016 Chile faced the Argentina XV in a match for the South American Cup.
