Americas’ Rosters For Singapore 7’s

The HSBC Sevens Series continues this weekend. Hosting the event will be Singapore. Sixteen countries will compete in the Asian city-state, thee of these are from the Americas. Argentina, Canada and the USA are all enjoying positive seasons and enter the tournament targeting solid results.

As was proven one year ago the competition can be unpredictable. The winners in 2016 were non other than Kenya. The shock result made the 2016 Olympics all the tougher to predict. Ultimately Kenya did not perform to the same level but there were other upsets.

This weekend’s competition will see Pumas of the future playing for Argentina. World Rugby profiled Matías Osadczuk during the week. He is to be joined by Americas Rugby Championship players including Fernando Luna, Nicolás Menedez, Lautaro Bazán Vélez, German Schultz and Santiago Alvarez. Former French-based professional Javier Rojas is another notable player involved.

Canada enter with a number of highly regarded athletes. The country’s first player to pass 1,000 points, Nathan Hirayama is one case in point. John Moonlight and Harry Jones joined Hirayama at Rugby World Cup 2015.

The USA came close to going all the way in Hong Kong. Madison Hughes spoke during the week about what might have been. He is joined by a host of dangerous players and names John Mitchell may look to for the June Internationals. They include Danny Barrett, Mike Te’o, Andrew Durutalo and Folau Niua. Perry Baker remains among the best in the business.
