De Battista re-signs with Cornish Pirates

Nicolás De Battista will stay with the Cornish Pirates for at least another year. The 26-year-old from Rosario has been a mainstay in the midfield since signing with the Greene King IPA Championship club ahead of the 2016-17 season, starting 16 games across all competitions. De Battista has signed a new deal that keeps him in Cornwall until June 2018.

The Pirates are currently in 5th place on the table, winning eight and drawing one from 16 Championship matches. They are five points behind both Doncaster and Ealing for a spot in the playoffs, but well back of pace-setters London Irish who are undefeated in league play this season and sit 18 points ahead of second place Yorkshire Carnegie. Other Americas players currently at Pirates are Canadian World Cup reps Brett Beukeboom and Matt Evans.
