Anselmi to Referee Rebels vs Chiefs

Federico Anselmi is to referee this weekend’s Super Rugby match between the Rebels and Chiefs. The fixture will see an Australian franchise playing host to a New Zealand side in Melbourne. For Anselmi it is to be his second match this season after he previously was in charge of the Force vs Reds fixture.

The leading Argentine official is on target to in placed in charge of Tier 1 test matches in the future. His debut was for Paraguay vs Brazil in 2012. Since then he has been in charge of Tier 2 matches regularly and was a senior official at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Anselmi is expected to be involved in Rugby World Cup 2019 as a referee rather than an assistant. As such 2016 June and November internationals are expected to see him involved.

Los Jaguares home match this weekend is to be refereed by New Zealand’s Paul Williams. He is to be assisted by Nick Briant (New Zealand) and Pablo Deluca (Argentina). Santiago Borsani (Argentina) is to be the TMO.
