Chile have rung the changes for Canada. Head Coach Bernard Charreyre has made eleven changes from the side that faced Brazil in round one.
A disappointing performance from Los Cóndores in the rain has seen Charreyre reacting. With snowy conditions expected at Westhills Stadium in Langford Chile will require a vastly different performance.
Chile fell 17-3 to Brazil. This was after leading 3-0 early in the match and retaining the same advantage at half time. Los Cóndores were unable to threaten Brazil’s try line as knock-on’s throughout the second half saw Brazil greatly marching on to victory.
Changes for Canada begin up front. Tighthead prop José Tomás Munita will again start. He will be joined by different players in the front row. Claudio Zamorano has been dropped to the bench with Viña del Mar’s Vittorio Lastra named to start. Rodrigo Moya takes over from Tomás Dussaillant at hooker.
Mario Mayol and Nikola Bursic have been retained as the second-rowers. In the back-row Arturo Seeman has been named and will earn his first test cap. He takes over from Cristóbal Niedmann. Chile’s best player in São Paulo, Anton Petrowitsch, remains at openside flanker. At the back of the scrum Benjamín Soto returns to lead the country.
It is all change in the halves. Jan Hasenlechner and Francisco Cruz take over from Beltrán Vergara and Francisco González Moller. This will see Chile playing with an all-COBS halves combination.
Back from France, Simón Pardakhty returns to play in the Chilean centers. He will play inside José Ignacio Larenas. Matias Nordenflycht is out injured but expected back for later matches. Completing the run-on team will be Tomás Ianiszewski, Franco Velarde, and Pedro Verschae in the back three. Verschae moves to fullback with Rodrigo Fernández named on the bench.
