TEROS is a documentary which tells the story of Los Teros, Uruguay’s national men’s rugby team which will compete at this year’s Rugby World Cup. Playing in Pool A Uruguay is in a unique situation in having a squad dominated by home-based players who play at amateur levels. Opponents Australia, England, Fiji and Wales are to field entirely different teams.
The film underlines the differences which exist in the modern game of rugby by separating professional rugby from amateurism. In doing so it will demonstrate to spectators how a country like Uruguay can reach the World Cup and, indeed, compete in it.
Film production required visits to all of Australia, England, France, Fiji and Wales and retells the stories of the lives of players and officials involved. Director Luis Ara has completed an 80 minute film which is to be releases on August 13 and distributed by DISPEL.
The title TEROS, SUEÑO MUNDIAL means Teros, World Cup Dream in English.
