Montevideo Cricket Club (MVCC) lays claim to being the oldest rugby club in the world outside of Europe. With a history dating back to 1861 it is officially considered to be the 8th oldest and this weekend the club turned 154.
It is likely to have players involved in Rugby World Cup 2015 with squad members Agustín Alonso, Cristofer Soares de Lima and Diego Magno all involved in the 41-man World Cup training squad.
The club was previously featured on Total Rugby by the International Rugby Board (IRB), now known as World Rugby.
