Connor Braid will make his Worcester Warriors debut against Newport Gwent Dragons in Round 3 of the European Challenge Cup on Saturday. The Canadian flyhalf was named on the bench in Worcester’s Aviva Premiership match last weekend but did not make an appearance in the match against Wasps. This will also be Braid’s maiden voyage in European competition, having previously played for Doncaster and London Scottish in the RFU Championship and Glasgow Warriors in the Pro 12.
One other Canadian will see action on Saturday as 20-year-old prop Matt Tierney is named on the Pau bench in their away match to Bristol. The home side feature US Eagles midfielder Thretton Palamo in the no13 jersey.
Two more Eagles start for their respective teams. Blaine Scully will play on the left wing for Cardiff Blues against Bath, and Taku Ngwenya starts on the right wing for Brive in their long trip away to Sochi, Russia, where they face Enisei STM.
A fourth Eagle international took the field for Newcastle Falcons on Friday. Nick Civetta started in the second row in the 42-12 loss to Lyon. Coming off the bench for the French club was Argentine scrumhalf Agustín Figuerola who has returned from several weeks out with injury.
