Guatemala, Costa Rica Notch Up Impressive Wins

Guatemala and Costa Rica notched up impressive wins on Sunday. The Central American republics came away victorious against Panama and El Salvador respectively. The matches were the first of three rounds in this year’s South American C Championship.

The opening match saw 1st vs 4th from the 2015 competition. This saw the host nation, Guatemala playing against Panama. Los Jaguares proved to be far too strong for the visitors as they ran out 34-0 winners. The star was winger Helmut Flores who  scored three tries, seven conversions and a penalty.

In game two previous champions Costa Rica and El Salvador squared-off. The match was far closer than that of game one but Costa Rica, nonetheless, proved to be the better side. Costs Rica’s 53-22 win makes the team a serious challenger to Guatemala.

ROUND ONE RESULTS
