Emiliano Boffelli signs for Argentine Rugby Union

Pumita Emiliano Boffelli is the latest player to sign a contract with the UAR. The 20 year old has agreed to terms to sign a two-year deal making him available for Argentina for all former of representative rugby and Super Rugby whenever required in 2016-2017.

He is the latest player to rise through the ranks from Rosario club Duendes. The club has recently produced the likes of Juan Imhoff and Jerónimo De la Fuente, both of whom are expected to feature at the World Cup later this year. Boffelli covers both their positions and is a genuine utility that can play centre, wing or fullback.

The signing was made following his return to Argentina from Toronto where he was a part of the Silver Medal winning Rugby Sevens team at the Pan American Games. Boffelli commented “I am very enthusiastic that everything is working out. A strong of good things have happened to me since I started being a part of the process. Staying in Argentine rugby, looking towards playing for Los Pumas, and fulfilling the dream of wearing the shirt was essential in deciding to sign the contract. And, of course, the chance to play Super Rugby.”

Boffelli’s development and rise to where he is today began in 2012 when he played at under 18 level against the USA. He went on to play at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Following this year’s Under 20 Championship in Italy he joined the Pumas Sevens side and played in Toronto.

The UAR is of the point of view that Boffelli has a bright future ahead of him. He is now the 27th member of the Super Rugby franchise but is the first uncapped player to have been signed.
