Video: Ireland 2023 Bid Officially Launched

Ireland, Ready for there World. This is the slogan of the country’s Rugby World Cup 2023 bid. The slogan was used by Irish Rugby in a promotional video for the unions’s bid. Narrated by Hollywood star Liam Neeson the 88 second video argues a case for Ireland to host the event.

Short phrases are used throughout the video. The desire of promoting Ireland to the world and celebrating rugby’s showpiece event in the country has been captured in Ready for the World.

Ireland has strong relationships with key unions from the Americas. The rivalry with Argentina at Rugby World Cups is arguably second only to that of France vs New Zealand. Ireland has enjoyed positive tours to North America in recent years and continues to be one of the few Tier 1 sides to play host to Canada.

Ireland is one of three official bidders for the tournament. The two others are France and South Africa. Italy had been in the race but pulled out. The Italian decision is widely speculated to be beneficial to Ireland’s chances. While Ireland hosted games during Rugby World Cups 1991 and 1999 it has never been a main host.
