Americas Rankings – November 06 2016

Saturday morning’s big win in Tokyo has resulted in a rankings boost for Argentina.  The 54-20 victory over Japan has given Argentina a new ranking of 81.46 points. This sees Argentina extending its lead at the top of the Americas Rankings.

Also in action this weekend was the USA. The Eagles’ home match against the Maori All Blacks sees no alteration in the rankings. The reason for this is that the Maori All Blacks are not the senior New Zealand side. No rankings points can be exchanged for this very reason.

New Zealand’s shock loss against Ireland sees their ranking take a bump. While they remain in first spot ahead of England the new ranking of 94.57 represents a loss of two points. Ireland’s gain gives the Emerald Isle 83.67 points to move into 5th position in the world.

Argentina’s win combined with Wales’ lackluster performance against Australia means Los Pumas have risen from 9th to 6th in the world. Wales, France and Scotland have all fallen. Argentina needs a win over Wales this coming weekend to remain in the top 8.

Win, lose or draw in Cardiff will not impact Argentina’s standing in the Americas. The USA is considerably lower ranked in second place followed by Canada and Uruguay in third and fourth. All three teams will be in action in Europe on Saturday November 12. Also playing will be Chile who host South Korea in Santiago.
