Americas Rankings – October 30 2016

There have been changes to the Americas Rankings following Colombia’s home win over Mexico. In winning by 18 points Colombia gained the maximum points on offer, seeing Mexico fall as a result. The updated Americas Rankings – October 30 2016 are the final rankings before the November International begin.

Argentina remains well out on top in the Americas. The South Americans are well ahead of the USA who hold second position. The Eagles’ home fixture against the Maori All Blacks this coming Friday is non-capped, meaning rankings will not be affected. Subsequent matches against Tonga and Romania may see changes.

Canada’s hold on third will be under threat by Uruguay. The comparative tours of the countries in November arguably provide Los Teros will a great chance of winning matches. Behind them in fifth is Chile who are notably behind the teams ranked 2nd-4th.

Colombia’s win over Mexico on Saturday sends a warning to Paraguay. Los Yakares are 7th in the Americas but are now only just ahead of Colombia. Los Tucanes have risen from 47.81 to 48.66 points to be just 0.11 behind Paraguay.

Mexico is not so fortunate. Las Serpientes have dropped from 46.47 to 45.62 points. With it Mexico has traded places with Trinidad & Tobago to now sit in 10th position. Based on rankings both countries would play in a theoretical Americas Rugby Championship ‘B’ tournament together with Paraguay, Colombia, Guyana and the Cayman Islands.

Further changes are expected for Colombia in November. Los Tucanes will play away to Paraguay in a Rugby World Cup qualifier on Saturday November 19. The Six countries of the Americas Rugby Championship will also be playing test matches in November.
