Americas Rankings – October 02 2016

There have been changes to the Americas Rankings following international competition this weekend. The updated Americas Rankings – October 02 2016 sees changes to a host of countries.

Despite losing by 19 points at home Argentina remains well out in front on 80,93 points. Los Pumas will have a strong opportunity at gaining points next month. Wins in their away matches against Japan, Wales, Scotland and England will ensure this.

Saturday’s Rugby World Cup Qualifier sees changes to both participants. Mexico’s impressive 32-3 win propels the North Americans significantly. Mexico entered with 45.21 points compared to Guyana’s 46.61. The result sees Mexico jumping from 11th to now be ranked higher than Guyana. The new rankings see Mexico on 46.47 points and Guyana on 45.35.

Guyana’s fall sees Colombia rising to 8th. This is the case prior to Los Tucanes taking to the field against Ecuador on Sunday. The gulf in the rankings between the two means that Colombia’s win did not see any change to the ranking of either.

Sunday’s second fixture was different. The 14th ranked Peru hosted the 13th placed Venezuela. Having won in 2015 Peru was looking to do it again. Venezuela, though, produced an impressive performance to win 33-8. The result means Venezuela has improved from 40,02 points to 41,85. With it Venezuela is closing in on the Cayman Islands.

For Peru the loss means a fall from 39.24 to 37.41 points. In rankings terms this signifies a drop from 14th to 16th. Bermuda and Jamaica are the benefactors, each rising one spot in the Americas Rankings.
