Canada add Glasgow match to UK Tour

The on-again, off-again Glasgow fixture will take place after all. Glasgow Warriors have confirmed that they will be hosting Canada ‘A’ on Tuesday, August 30 at Bridgehaugh Park in Stirling County. The match will be the third and final stop for Canada on their tour, and the last warm-up for Warriors before the Guinness Pro 12 officially gets underway on Saturday, September 3.

Given the proximity to the official league kickoff it’s expected that Warriors will field a reserve side. Despite that there’s good reason to believe it will be Canada’s toughest competition. Glasgow are among the strongest sides in the Pro 12 and boast an incredible 35 full internationals on their roster. Among them are Canadian prop Djustice Sears-Duru, US Eagles lock Greg Peterson, and new signings Tjiuee Uanivi of Namibia and former All Black hooker Corey Flynn.

The fixture is a return trip for Canada, who hosted the Warriors at Graves-Oakley Memorial Park in Halifax prior to their World Cup departure. It’s unclear whether Canada will name additional players with the extra fixture now in place. Currently there are 26 selected to tour.
