Teams for Women’s Super Series Round 2

The Super Series continues as Round 2 kicks off in Salt Lake City on Tuesday afternoon. England and France are up first, with the latter favorites after pushing past a physical Eagles side in Round 1. The hosts USA will try their luck against a massively impressive Canadian team who put a beating on England on Friday. All matches will be streamed live by The Rugby Channel.

ENGLAND vs FRANCE

England have swapped out a half-dozen as they look to rebound from their embarrassing defeat to Canada. Laura Keates replaces Vickii Cornborough at tighthead prop, and Harriet Millar-Mills moves into the second row from the blindside. Alex Matthews and Poppy Leitch are the new flankers in a dynamic loose forward group.

The inside backs remain the same but Lauren Cattall steps in at outside centre to replace new cap Millie Wood. Kate Mason shifts to the left wing, and Fiona Pocock runs out at fullback.

France meanwhile have made wholesale changes to the team that recovered to defeat the Eagles on Friday. Captain Gaëlle Mignot sits out with Safi N’Diaye given the armband for the match. A whole new front row is selected as Maïlys Traoré joins the squad as an injury replacement, with Manon Bigot and Patricia Carricaburu starting alongside. Audrey Forlani adds bulk to the second row, and Victoria Grière starts at openside flank.

The halfbacks are also changed entirely, with Toulouse pair Laure Sansus and Camille Imart given control of the steering wheel. Camille Boudaud and Elodie Poublan are a new-look midfield, and Caroline Boujard starts on the left wing in place of try-scorer Julie Billes.

Stand-in coach Shaun Allen is understandably content to keep his Canadian team intact after throttling England, and has made only one change with Katie McNally getting the start on the wing and Frédérique Rajotte switching to the bench. The replacement are more conventional this week with Julia Folk added as a reserve hooker and Katie Svoboda instead starting on the flank for the Maple Leafs development side.

The Eagles have opted to change half their starting pack. Catie Benson runs out at loosehead prop, with Molly Kinsella taking over from Alycia Washington at lock. Elizabeth Cairns and Nicole Strasko are picked on the flank with Joanna Kitlinski asked to cover hooker this week and Christiane Pheil also a reserve.

Jennifer Lui is given a start in place of Deven Owsiany at scrumhalf. It’s all change in the midfield as Jenn Sever starts with exciting debutant Nate Serevi, with the outside backs left as is.
