Argentina XV Humble Chile in Santiago

The Argentina XV Humbled Chile in Santiago, running out 87-12 winners this afternoon. The one-sided affair saw the Argentina XV crossing for thirteen tries, eleven more than that of Chile.

A team featuring five players with Super Rugby experience showed no mercy. The Argentina XV delivered a performance to do far more than just win the Sudamérica Rugby Cup, it made them the odds-on favorites now to win the upcoming Nations Cup in Romania.

The Argentina XV will travel to Eastern Europe to take on Romania, Spain and Emerging Italy. The matches are to be non-capped, just like was today’s fixture, last Saturday’s match against Uruguay in Colonia del Sacramento and the five fixtures in the Americas Rugby Championship.

Against Los Cóndores this afternoon the Argentina XV had the result wrapped up before the completion of the opening quarter. So impressive were the free-running Argentine backs that at the halfway point of the match the Argentina XV were leading 61-0.

Tries by Segundo Tuculet, Gonzalo Gutiérrez Taboada, Santiago Portillo, Franco Cuaranta and Sebastián Cancelliere came with no reply and the one-way traffic continued into the second half.

Los Cóndores were able to eventually open their account with captain Benjamin Soto scoring his team’s opening try. A second through Rodrigo Fernández displayed a positive attitude though the story of the match was the superior fitness levels and technique of the Argentina XV.

Set to join there Argentina XV in Romania are French-based players Lucas Martínez and Carlos Muzzio. They are to be joined by a mixture of Jaguares players and domestic-based amateurs.
