Super Rugby Americas 2025 Fixtures Come With American Raptors Out

The American Raptors are officially no longer involved in Super Rugby Americas. The announcement of the fixtures for Super Rugby Americas 2025 confirmed the league will consist of seven teams in 2025 with newcomers, Los Tarucas added and the American Raptors gone.

Super Rugby Americas 2025 will kick-off on February 14 with 2024 champions Los Dogos facing 2022 and 2023 champions Peñarol in Montevideo, Uruguay. Newcomers Los Tarucas play host to Cobras Brasil Rugby in the opening round on February 15 while Yacare host Selknam in a Paraguay vs Chile clash.

The regular season will consist of 42 matches. The rounds will all consist of three matches. The final round will take place on May 30 and May 31. The top four sides will advance to the Semi Finals.

Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay will participate in Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifiers in 2025. Super Rugby Americas 2025 will be vital match preparation for all four countries.

 

SUPER RUGBY AMERICAS 2025 – TEAMS

Argentina will have three teams in Super Rugby Americas 2025. This is an increase of one. The teams are based in Buenos Aires (Pampas), Córdoba (Dogos) and Tucumán (Tarucas) making them capital, central and northwestern Argentine teams.

The four other sides are from different countries. They are all returning teams. Brazil’s side is Cobras Brasil Rugby and plays in Jacareí. The Chilean entrant is Selknam, based in Santiago. Yacare is based in Asunción, Paraguay and Peñarol Rugby play at Montevideo, Uruguay.

With the American Raptors out the league returns to being  exclusively South American. ARN understands that not only will this continue but that there will be additional teams entering in the coming years. The next side likely to do so will play out of Rosario, Argentina. The team representing the Litoral region was close to entering in 2025 but postponed until 2026.
