Quesada’s Italy to Tour South Africa in July 2025

Gonzalo Quesada’s Italy will tour South Africa in July 2025. The World Champion Springboks will play three home matches as part of the mid-year internationals. South Africa are to play Italy twice and also host Georgia once. Additional home test matches will be against Australia (2) and Argentina (1) in the 2025 Rugby Championship.

The match dates see South Africa playing the three matches against European opposition on July 05, 12 and 19. The matches against Italy and Georgia will occur alongside France’s three match tour of New Zealand. One of the matches is set to be moved to the USA.

Additional July tours are being finalized. Australia will be hosting  the British & Irish Lions. Ireland is expected to tour Georgia and Romania. Plans are for Scotland to tour Japan and with the Japanese possibly also hosting Wales. The Welsh visit to Japan would be together with additional matches against Pacific opposition from further south. Argentina will play two home matches against England and face Chile in Santiago.

Venues for South Africa’s home matches are yet to be finalized. The home series against Italy is to be the first in over a decade. Italy’s last visit to South Africa was in 2013 and it was also during a British & Irish Lions tour to Australia.

Georgia last played in South Africa in 2021. It was during that year’s British & Irish Lions tour of South Africa. The 2021 Springboks vs Lelos match was the first set match between the teams in South Africa. Italy first played in South Africa in 1999.
