Uruguay Crowned South American u19 Champions for 2024

Los Teritos defeated Chile 19-12 in the South American u19’s final. The result sees Uruguay claiming the 2024 South American u19 title and qualifying for the World Rugby U20 Trophy 2025.

Played at the Estadio Héroes de Curupayty in Asunción, Paraguay, Los Teritos successfully defended their title. The day began with hosts Paraguay falling 21-0 to Brazil.

Uruguayan captain Juan Manuel Dotta led by example. The flanker was part of a forward pack that had the edge over their rivals from Chile. Center Alfonso Perillo scored early while fullback Francisco Landauer also went over.

Chile responded Jaime Soler. The winger finished off good work from his teammates. The conversion was wayward. The match was 12-5 in favor of Uruguay at half-time.

Chile came out strong, scoring eight minutes into the second-half. Cristian Olmos Saat went over with Jaime Soler adding the conversion to bring the teams level. Uruguay hit-back with a penalty try from an advancing maul. It costs Chile significantly with Mateo Alcaide Cartorosi also yellow carded. Uruguay defende the 19-12 lead and saw out victory.
