Mateo Carreras will join Los Pumas in Paris. Having missed out on selection against Italy and Ireland, el tucumano will be available for Argentina’s final test match of 2024. France play host to Argentina in week three of the November Internationals.
Mateo Carreras was not considered for the matches against Italy and Ireland nor the training camp in Paris. The 24-year-old did not play for family reasons; he became a father for the first-time. ESPN Scrum have confirmed that he will join the roster and be ready for selection against Les Bleus.
His return sees one of the notable missing names now back. Mateo Carreras held down the left wing starting position for Argentina throughout the 2024 Rugby Championship and also the 2024 July Internationals. In his absence, Felipe Contepomi started Bautista Delguy on the left wing against both Italy and Ireland. He impressed in both matches. Rodrigo Isgró played on the right wing.
Carreras plays his rugby in France for Bayonne. He joined the Top 14 side from the Newcastle Falcons in the English Premiership. Delguy also plays in the Top 14 while Isgró plays in the English Premiership. Injured winger Emiliano Boffelli plays for Edinburgh in the United Rugby Championship (URC). Santiago Cordero, who was a replacement against Italy, plays for Connacht also in the URC.
